The express purpose of Apostolic Family Ministries is to advance the Kingdom of God through the good news of Jesus Christ by identifying, relating, releasing and overseeing valid ministers and ministries nationally and internationally. In providing strong relational spiritual covering and accountability ministers and churches are able to grow strong and healthy under the leadership of a spiritual father. The result is greater purity and power in ministers producing true New Testament churches that are apostolically related.

AFM is a Florida 501c-3 non profit ministry under the apostolic leadership of Buford Lipscomb, Senior Pastor Liberty Church, Pensacola, Florida.

Pastor Buford Lipscomb and AFM are submitted to the Apostolic Council of CFN as spiritual covering. Pastor Lipscomb relates directly to Rev. Ken Sumrall as his spiritual father.

I have learned first hand the incredible importance of having someone in your life that you can look up to and trust as a mentor. A man that has been there that understands ministry and ministers; a strong leader that cares and will celebrate the wins but also be there to help pick up the pieces when life or ministry crumbles. As ministers, all of us need mentors and spiritual fathers as never before.

I have been blessed to have Brother Ken Sumrall as a mentor and spiritual father in my life. Not only has he taught me from the Scriptures about the value and emerging role of apostolic spiritual fathers, but I have had the great joy of observing his own evolvement into becoming a spiritual father to many. I have drawn much from this man for which I will be eternally grateful.

I love people, especially ministers. I have spent much of my life becoming one and learning to succeed as one. I am now entering a stage in my life and ministry that I want to pour into men and women what God has so graciously poured into one so undeserving as me.

I strongly believe the final prophetic verses of the Old Testament (Malachi 4:5-6) are being fulfilled. There is a cry among ministers as never before for fathers in the faith. I believe God is restoring a sense of family among us as he prepares His Bride for Jesus' return. I would not be so presumptuous as to declare myself a minister's spiritual father. It's not an office; it's a Holy Ghost-given relationship. I will be a coach to some, a mentor to some and a spiritual father to others. It will be a process. I do believe God has called me to be a spiritual father and multiply my ministry and reproduce myself in others.

The Church Foundational Network (CFN) was founded by Ken Sumrall in 1995. CFN's roots go back to Liberty Bible College. Over the years, thousands of missionaries, pastors and evangelists came under the covering and accountability structure of Brother Sumrall and Liberty College. CFN was founded in order to distribute the oversight of the ministers to many of Brother Sumrall's spiritual sons, men who are called to apostolic leadership. This relational structure affords every minister a pastor who is concerned for his or her welfare and an apostolic team to whom he or she is accountable.

Today, CFN has more than 500 ministers in 22 apostolic families or ministerial cells. AFM is one of those cells and is headed by Buford Lipscomb, Senior Pastor at Liberty Church, Pensacola, Florida.

Annual confirmation provides a point of accountability for each member, and it also provides a point of accountability for Pastor Lipscomb to be certain that he is providing appropriate leadership to every member of the cell.

AFM credentials are renewed annually based upon the following criteria.

  a. The minister’s character and family life is above reproach and in line with scriptural guidelines for ministry.
b. The minister is involved with valid ministry.
c. The minister has shown himself or herself to be accountable to and is in good standing with AFM and
Pastor Lipscomb.
d. Has shown a desire to grow in relationship with Pastor Lipscomb.
e. Has shown a desire to grow and develop in ministry call and giftedness.

Ministerial cell members are encouraged to communicate openly and regularly with Pastor Lipscomb.
To foster this, AFM has occasional corporate meetings. All members are expected to attend all scheduled
meetings. There is also an annual conference as a ministerial cell and an annual conference for all the CFN cells.
On a monthly basis, various sections of AFM meet in Pastor Lipscomb’s house for a weekly time of
mentoring and fellowship.

AFM Conference Dates - April 15th & 16th 2008 @ Liberty Church

CFN Conference Dates - June 10th & 12th Atlanta, GA

AFM is a nonprofit ministry. There is a one-time application fee of $35 and there is an annual renewal fee of $35. Above this, it is suggested, but not required that each member give the equivalent of 1/2 of their tithe to AFM as it is their ministerial covering. All funds go toward covering the expenses of AFM. A finance report is prepared each year and is provided to members. Bill Sudduth is the Administrator for AFM. He can be reached by email at bill@ramministry.org
